Luckenbach, TX
These days Luckenbach Texas is, to paraphrase John Steinbeck, a "State of Mind" – A Texas state of mind, where you can kick back, relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life—like a step back in time.

Our friends Tim and Pat McClelland are visiting this week. Spent a cold afternoon in San Antonio yesterday. 1st stop was Rideaway Bikes for a rental for Tim. We plan to get in a few miles this week during his visit. Next we stopped by the Alamo and Riverwalk for a quick tourist visit and then off to the Liberty Bar for a wonderful late lunch. As luck would have it, cousin Dwight was at the Liberty and joined us for some conversation. A fun day in spite of the temps.

“By the end of 2011 the world will have reached 7 billion people. The United Nations Population Fund is leading an innovative global campaign to bring awareness to the opportunities and challenges that this milestone presents. But 7 Billion people means 7 Billion hearts. Music has always been the best way to speak to the hearts of the people. Playing For Change has partnered with the United Nations to present an original song around the world to serve as an anthem for such an important time: United. “

This past weekend, Tina and I took a trip to Chicago to visit friends (Tim & Pat McClelland) and to ride the Bike the Drive. On Sunday, Chicago closed the Lake Shore Drive for 4 hours and somewhere between 18,000 and 20,000 cyclists rode a 30 mile loop between the North side and the Science Museum.
