For the past several years, I have enjoyed photographing various bike races. The standing joke is that I photograph young men in tight black shorts. The truth is that I love shooting the energy in the air (and the podium girls). If you have any interest in bike races, I’ve posted lots of pictures on Picasa. An index is listed at http://bnwilson.com/cycling/.
Very few people know the real reason that Lance Armstrong decided to race in Europe again after 3 years of semi-retirement. In the summers of 2006, 2007 and 2008 besides running marathons and racing mountain bikes, Lance participated in RAGBRAI. This week long event consists of riding your bike across the state of Iowa while consuming vast quantities of food and beer.
Lance found it difficult to ride away from the amateur Paparazzi and decided that it might be easier to face the professional Paparazzi in Europe.

Kristin Armstrong (Cervélo Test Team) may have fiercely defended her yellow jersey at the Stillwater Criterium, leaping off the start line with determination in her eyes, but she left the Nature Valley Grand Prix well decorated and with a teary goodbye at the last American race of her career. A triumphant end to a win-filled career, Armstrong won the overall general classification, the Jelly Belly Sports Beans Best Climber Jersey and the Freewheel Most Aggressive Rider Jersey. Shelley Olds (Proman Hit Squad) and Andrea Dvorak (Colavita/Sutter Home presented by Cooking Light) followed Armstrong’s attack in the second lap to take second and third for the stage, respectively.
