The male Pileated finally showed up this morning. He spent a few minutes playing in the yard, then pushed the female away from a hole she was working on before flying off. She went back to the hole for a few more minutes and then left. Great fun to finally see the pair together. Even squirrels on the same tree didn’t seem to bother them too much.
I am a bit worried about my Oak tree however.
