Birds in Flight

Oct 22, 2008 | Birding

On Sunday, Oct 5th, I spent a wonderful day birding with my parents at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in Florida. One of the fun things of the day was watching Mom try her hand at high-speed photography. The Canon 40D is capable of firing off 6 images per second, so she decided to shoot birds in flight using the camera with a 3+ lb lens. It was like watching a soldier fire an automatic weapon at moving targets.

Here are 3 of the awesome shots she captured. A Brown Pelican, a White Ibis and a Great Blue Heron.
