On January 22nd, 2009, Tina and I join my parents for a once in a lifetime trip to the Peruvian Amazon, the second largest jungle in the world after the Brazilian Amazon.
One primary reason for the trip, is to photograph birds. Of the approx 9,672 different species of birds in the world, over 1,800 can be found in Peru and over 800 can be found in the jungles of the Peruvian Amazon.
After flying to Lima, we will fly over the Andes Mountains to Iquitos. There we will board La Amatista, a 3 story river boat and travel to the confluence of the Amazon river.
Pictures and stories will be posted when we return, as we will have no access to phones or internet for most of the week. Tune-in in a couple of weeks for more.
