Last weekend as part of the BioBlitz 2009, the National Park Service set up a bird banding station with 3 remote nets. We watched the staff catch and band several small songbirds including this Indigo Bunting. It was surprising how small they actually are as compared to what you see up in a tree when they’re singing.
