Fall Migration has begun

Aug 29, 2009 | Birding

Fall migration is underway. The hawk counters in Duluth for instance, noted 90 warblers of 7 species, 73 Cedar Waxwings, 6 Canada Geese, 2 Scarlet Tanagers, 1 Olive-sided Flycatcher, 2 Common Loons, 1 Double-crested Cormorant, 1 Pine Siskin, 7 Purple Finches, 2 Red-winged Blackbirds just in one day.

Warblers are one of my favorites and I was lucky enough to see several species this week in Centerville just north of the cities. The Canada Warbler was a life bird… as in 1st I ever seen.
