Great Backyard Bird Count

Feb 22, 2011 | Birding

The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent.  This past weekend we watched the feeders and sky and tallied our sightings.  Tina watched 2 Bald Eagles fly over the neighborhood and spotted a (our 1st in Crepeau) Northern Shrike.  The resident Great Horned Owl is also back but we have been unable to find his or her nest.  Keep your eyes open and let me know what you see.

I also spent some time walking in south Minneapolis with Linda, a birding buddy and came across several Pine Siskins and a Brown Creeper. Spring is coming.
