UPDATE: Video posted of weekend highlights – http://youtu.be/w8lPA77gVVg
On Friday afternoon, the U of MN Raptor Center was called to help rescue a baby eagle that had become trapped in his nest near Hutchinson, MN. This particular nest was under the watchful eye of some 8,000 viewers to the Minnesota Bound Live Eagle Cam. At the TRC, Harmon was treated for bugs and maggots, warmed up, fed and given a full checkup. One of the risks was that the parents might leave the nest without a young one to care for. At noon today after a final check up and meal, the staff decided to place Harmon back in the nest. Harmon was returned to his home at about 4:45pm Sunday afternoon, after only 48 hours away.
Coverage has been fantastic with over 8,000 viewers watching the rescue Friday and 6,000 watching him return today. The live stream is viewable at http://www.mnbound.com/live-eagle-cam/. Still photos have also been posted at http://www.facebook.com/Minnesota.Bound.Live.Eagles.
