Several weeks ago, I discovered Trempealeau Wisconsin. Recommended as one of the best cycling counties in the Midwest, friend Tim and I planned a weekend of road riding. Situated on the Mississippi River north of Lacrosse, the county boasts of a 3 car per hour rate on most farm roads, decent pavement and some butt busting hills. The scenery was great, the miles were for the most part easy and the hills were steeper than anything I had ridden before, topping out at 16% on Schmickle Valley Road.
