Warbler Weekend 2013

May 13, 2013 | Birding

Tina and I just spent a cold and windy weekend in Frontenac and Lake City, MN.  The middle of May is the height of spring bird migration and there is no better place to be than Frontenac.  Birds using the Mississippi River as a flyway stop along the way to eat and rest.  Throw in a 35 mph wind on Saturday and the birds spent as much time as possible hunkered down low.  The late spring also meant very few leaves to get in our way.

We saw 15 species of Warblers and about 75 total bird species in the two days.
