1st Day at the Raptor Center

Mar 5, 2009 | Birding

Today was my first day working at the Minnesota Raptor Center where I’ve joined a “flight crew”.  Flight Crew is a program to help rehabilitate owls, hawks, vultures and eagles.   Several times each week, birds are brought outdoors on tethers for some open flight time.  I was able to real in and hold a small great horned owl on my first day.

Today we flew a Great Horned Owl, several Red-tails, a Rough-legged Hawk and a Golden Eagle.  It was a great experience and one I’m looking forward to.  More pictures from today.
