On Oct 22nd, Tina and I were asked to drive a barred owl to Balsam Lake, Wi for a release. On the way to Wisconsin, we received a report of a bald eagle injured in Burnet County and asked if we would drive it back to the Raptor Center. We met a volunteer with an injured bird and transported it back to the St. Paul, where Dr Mitch and the staff did a great job of stabilizing the eagle and caring for it over the following month.
On Friday, November 13th, this Bald Eagle was taken out to a field in Como Park for some test flights to see if he was ready for release.
We just received word that on Saturday, November 21, the eagle was released back into the wild in Danbury, Wisconsin. I wish Tina and I had been home for the release but here are 2 images taken at the event.
