Dickcissel

One more bird from Sunday…. the Dickcissel is a beautiful bird commonly found in fallow fields or tallgrass prairies. The breeding male is colored like a tiny meadowlark, with a black "V" on a yellow chest.  

Lark Sparrow

Another of the highlights from Sunday was some great looks at a Lark Sparrow sitting on a electric line.

Common Loons on nest

Sunday, we watched a pair of Common Loons on Lake McKusick in Stillwater.  One of the pair (probably the female) then swam up to a new nest in the reeds.  Fun to watch up close and fun to see loons on city lakes.
